About This Event

We are excited to continue our work at Steelhead Creek within the American River Parkway. We will continue partnering with the amazing County Parks' crews and intrepid creek steward Roland Brady, PhD. Please come out and help us clear the channel for the Salmon ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ and improve other wildlife habitat by removing trash and invasive vegetation such as Red Sesbania and Aquatic Primrose. ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ๐ŸŒฑ The work site will be on the LEFT/EAST bank of Steelhead Creek, upstream of the Northgate bridge. We will meet at the entrance to Camp Pollock at Northgate Blvd. PLEASE be on time (early ok) since we have to caravan to the project site. At 8:30 am SHARP, we will head to the cleanup site. Late comers will not be accommodated. Folks who might need to leave early are welcome, but please let us know in advance. We will continue our attack on trash and debris lining the banks and channel of Steelhead Creek, both new and old, as we work in this project area. AGE LIMIT: This event is not suitable for minors under 14 years old. Minors 14 and older are invited, but must be supervised by a responsible adult during the entire event. There will be plenty of hard-core badgering (digging out the big stuff), but also lots of easy detail work along the flat floodplain above the creek. We will provide bags, but please bring along your waders and/or sturdy, mud-resistant footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves - a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. As there is water in the creek and lower floodplain, participants will be required to wear rain boots or waders if they intend to get into the water. Entry into any waters is always optional, but is definitely helpful in this area. As with all events shared on RCWA, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.
